Who We Are

Dementia Friendly Saline is an independent committee not part of any government agency or corporate entity. Its membership will represent many sectors of the community, including business, residential care, faith and social services, health care, legal and financial, and of course persons living with dementia, their caregivers and families. For more information, click on the interim charter, at right.

The interim chairs of Dementia Friendly Saline are:

James I. Mangi PhD
Jim is a retired successful business owner, and is currently continuing his 11 year role as caregiver for his wife, who has Younger Onset Alzheimer’s. Jim is an active volunteer educator for the local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, teaching various classes on dementia and caregiving topics to diverse groups in a several-county area around Saline. He developed and led the 12 week In This Together-Dementia Awareness lecture series at Holy Faith from May through July 2019.
Vanessa Graham
Vanessa has been active in the Dementia Friendly Community movement for the Alzheimer’s Society of the UK since the early 2000's. She was instrumental in establishing a dementia friendly chorus there and even maintains involvement with the UK movement even from her current Michigan home.
